Product Description
With this new guide, hikers discover many of the local hidden hiking treasures that are in and around Ohio’s most picturesque city, located on a historic river at the confluence of three states. Places such as Caldwell Nature Preserve, Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary, and Quiet Trails Nature Preserve offer incredible views, ample wildlife and wildflowers, and a chance to get away from everything and enjoy the simple pleasure of nature. Many of the trails, between three and five miles in length, cover Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, and range from family friendly to the more rigorous. While Sharon Woods offers a leisurely, accessible paved trail for most of the way, Clifty Falls State Park tests the seasoned hiker's ability to concentrate on crossing slippery rocks without falling into the stream. Clear maps, simple directions, accurate driving times, and a wealth of trail details make this the perfect companion to a Queen City day hike.

| Customer Reviews: Informative and Easy to Use October 3, 2009 Aaron Forgue (West Chester, OH USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We really like this book. There is an amazing amount of detail for each hike and the hikes are very well organized. I would definitely recommend this book to others.
A must have for any hiker in the region October 12, 2009 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) Hiking is great exercise with a nod to adventure. "60 Hikes Within 60 Miles" is a guide for hikers in the Ohio region who want to find all of the exciting trails throughout the region. Covering the city of Cincinnati and its surrounding regions, this guide form the American Hiking Society covers man aspects of what a hiker needs to know, such as the amount of shade available, how long is it open, and other special features. "60 Hikes Within 60 Miles" is a must have for any hiker in the region.
Amazon purchase saved me Ten Dollars! December 6, 2009 K. Kelly (Cincinnati, OH USA) I actually looked at this book at a bookstore. It would have cost me $10.00 MORE. The book I DID get from Amazon was in BETTER CONDITION than the one in the bookstore. Thanks Amazon!
Good for Beginners and Families September 1, 2009 Darryl R. Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This title covers numerous hiking locations within an hour or two of Cincinnati (the 60 mile radius is actually from Cincinnati's loop interstate, I-275). The author pulls together information in an easy to read and follow style, the maps are well done and clean (too much clutter can take away from a map's value), and the trail descriptions are accurate. There are sections that cover hike preparation for those unfamiliar with trail gear. This is not a book for the hardcore hiker as anyone who fits that category and lives in the Cincinnati area will have already tackled the toughest hikes this book has to offer (such as Clifty Falls), but this title is excellent for those who want to explore the Queen City region and find hikes in the three to six mile range. Good book!
Good hiking guide for families November 3, 2009 Heather Wright (Cincinnati, OH United States) This book is rather generous with its definition of 60 miles, but very particular with the description of hike details. I wish the maps had lighter lines defining other trails in the parks/preserves as it is sometimes difficult to determine which trail to take when they split. Overall, though, it's a really good guide and gives a wide variety of hikes throughout the area. We're trying to do every hike in the book.
