Product Description This is a reprint of a book first published by the Indiana Historical Society in 1919, written by the former Dubois County surveyor, George R. Wilson. The book features invaluable information on early Indiana paths and settlements, including historic trails such as the Buffalo Trace, the Yellow Banks Trace, the Red Banks Trail, and Whetzels Trace. Also featured are discoveries made by surveyors during their work, including the location of French Lick and West Baden Springs. An index of names of people as well as names of roads, traces, and surveys is included.

| Customer Reviews: My Father Has Studied This Collection Closely July 25, 2009 Read Rover (FL) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My father has spent the last 25 years or so studying the history of the area surrounding Columbus Indiana in his pursuit to better understand our family history. I bought this book for him, along with several others, in the hope that it might aid him in his pursuits.
When I asked him how he liked all the books I sent to him, his response was that he has spent almost all his time pouring over the maps and information in this book and had not even really gotten through any of the others yet!
He has found this collection of maps of early trails and surveys to be extremely valuable in his research and they help him to better understand the settling and movement decisions of our Indiana pioneer family ancestors.
Not what I was looking for August 8, 2010 irish I ordered this book for info that I needed, alas it was not in this book.
